The planning system can be confusing and difficult to navigate, even for professionals.  For most people, business, and voluntary groups, it can seem so complicated and inaccessible, it can lead to apathy, stress and unnecessary conflict between parties.

There is free advice and support out there (see links) but it is limited and can’t always deliver what you need.

PPS Planning can help your community group or organisation to:

• respond to published planning documents and prepare a concise and persuasive case

• respond to a major planning application which is likely to have a significant effect on the local area.

The Localism Act offers communities (residents and businesses alike) the opportunity to shape the future development of their area, in the following ways:

PPS Planning can help with your neighbourhood plan by:

  • Assembling information and data on the area

  • Helping you develop your 'vision' for the area

  • Working up your policies and proposals

  • Engaging with experts, e.g architects

  • Liaising with the local planning authority and other agencies on your behalf

  • Assisting with organising consultation and project management.

  • Create neighbourhood plans which allow communities to influence development in their area

  • Grant planning permission for the new buildings they want to see go ahead

  • Propose local green space designations in their area to protect well-used and locally important open space
